Hello! My name is Marta Moreira and I'm from Portugal.
I'm an EFL teacher working with children aged between 6 and 9 years
old. I also teach, individually, teens with 13 to 17 years old.
I love music and I use it a lot in my classes, but I would like to
learn new strategies on how to use it in the classroom. I also hope to
learn how to use web programmes related to music.
Currently I don't play any instrument, but I once learned and used to
play the flute and the organ. Nowadays I'm more a listener than a
player!
Hi Marta! Nice to meet you too.
To answer your question, here is how I ended up in Japan. About 5 years ago, I took a trip to Osaka with my family and just knew it was the place for me! It has been really great learning about Japan and Japanese culture because it is so different from the U.S.
Keep in touch ;)
Hello Berta, nice to meet you too. I think that the lirics of the songs and the songs themselves can be a stimulus for your students to begin to like reading in English. Use songs that deal with current problems, it's a nice way to start. Or use songs related to the themes you are dealing with. Keep in touch!
Hi Marta, so nice to meet you in this group. I too am more a listener than a player and would love to learn to use music and songs in a more creative way in my classroom, even if I teach reading to freshman engineering students. Warm regards from sunny Caracas.
Robert,
Don't worry, I'll make a new comment. I think I also deleted your comment in my page. So I ask you the same thing, would you re-comment?! Thanks a lot. See you around!
Marta,
In my efforts to add your comment to my blog post, I apparently deleted too many, and now it does not show up at all. I truly apologize for deleting your nice post. If you would like to re-comment, I have removed the "approval" mechanism and you should now be able to post your comment directly to the blog with out awaiting approval.
